A new NRAS group is being set up here in North West Lancashire. Great news for all those living this way. The first meeting is scheduled for

WEDNESDAY 21ST JULY 7PM -8.30PM
CLIFTON HOSPITAL,
PERSHORE ROAD,
LYTHAM ST.ANNES
FY8 1PB

NRAS groups provide regular, informal gatherings offering information on disease self management, guest speakers and lots more. It would be helpful to know how many people to expect at this first meeting so if you are able to come along please let Clare at NRAS know by calling 0845 4583969 or email her clare@nras.org.uk

By the end of June over 20 people had registered so a very positive start. I have distributed posters and flyers around the local area, the northern part mainly, and everyone I have spoken to has been so supportive; a local patient group is very much needed. I'm really looking forward to meeting Clare and any local people who come along to join us.

Hello guys!

Yes, I made it, on crutches mind, but nevertheless I was there! It was great to meet Claire Jacklin who, along with some of the rheumatology staff, had organised the occasion.

It was an excellent turnout, I think between 55-60 people so a fab start to something that could be really good. Several people are interested in helping to organise a group so that's promising.

Claire did an introduction about NRAS and then one of our consultants did a talk about the Multi Disciplinary Team and introduced everyone. It was good to be able to put faces to names! There was also time for a question/answer session.

Keeping fingers crossed it will take off. There were quite a few NRAS members present so perhaps one or two may venture onto the forum, now they know it exists! Hopefully others will have been encouraged to join NRAS too.

So it's a thumbs up ThumpUp

Hi Lyn

I'm glad your meeting went well, and you had a good attendance. I wish we could start a group in Nottm, but I haven't the energy or time to help at the moment.

Thank you Julia and Lyn; I'm hoping the group will really take off as there seem to be so many people who need support. Lyn, Nottingham covers a wide area so it's possible there will be others who would be happy to take on the organisation of a group. Our rheumatology team is very keen to get something up and running; your team may be in a similar position. Might be worth speaking with Claire Jacklin to see if there are any plans. Just a thought!
